Diagnostic Tests in Mathematical Language for Grade 8 to 10
J. Barnard
Description:
The aim of the tests is to serve as diagnostic aids in basic Mathematics with which problems or hiatuses in the knowledge and understanding of mathematical terminology can be identified.
The basic assumption is that there are certain terms that should be known and understood by all pupils. Without this frame of reference progress in Mathematics is not possible.
The tests can by used for individual pupils or for a group of pupils in Grade 8 to 10. The tests can be administered at any time during the year.
There are two sub tests, namely Test A (Algebra) and Test B (Geometry). Test A comprises 70 open-ended items and Test B comprises 41 open-ended items. Three construction is required in a number of items while in most cases the pupil has to write down all the lines, angles, etc. of a certain type.
Test Material
The sub tests are bound in one test booklet. The pupils have to answer the items in the expendable test booklet. The tests are scored by hand.
