Anger Control Game

B. Berg, Ph.D

Anger Control Game

This useful board game teaches children the skills they need for effective anger control. It is particularly helpful in treating
conduct-disorder children or those with temper control problems. Based on cognitive-behavioural principles, the game focuses on six skills related to anger control: empathizing with the victim; distinguishing between aggressive and non-aggressive acts; using self-statements to diffuse anger; generating and evaluation alternatives to aggression; identifying feelings underlying anger; and evaluating the opinions of others.

An Anger Control Inventory (included) helps you determine which skills a child needs to develop.

Anger Control Workbook

A complement to the Anger Control Game, this popular workbook teaches children how to control anger and deal with interpersonal conflict. It includes activities and exercises that reinforce the six skills addressed in the board game. If you work with children who have temper control problems, you’ll find it highly useful.

Anger Control Skits DVD

If you're working with teens or preteens on anger control, this DVD is a great way to stimulate discussion and behavior change. Skits performed by kids illustrate negative, then positive reactions to real-life situations. The dramatic contrast between "how not to" and "how to" never fails to provoke viewer involvement and discussion. While the main focus is on the protagonist's behavior, the skits also illustrate how peers should respond to anger and aggression.

The skits show how to tell when others are being aggressive, how to recognize angry feelings, how to empathize with victims, how to control anger through self talk, how to find alternatives to aggression, and how to understand and use assertion. Each of the DVD's 10 sections serves as the basis for hours of discussion, written assignments, and role play. This DVD is often used in conjunction with The Anger Control Game. DVD, 30 minutes. Ages 10 to 16.

Anger Control Thinking Skills Puppet DVD

This most engaging component of Berg's anger control program clearly demonstrates the six cognitive-behavioral principles taught by the game and workbook. The DVD presents two vignettes for each of the six skills and two scenes (positive and negative models) for each vignette. An accompanying manual provides scripts, so you can easily present the skits yourself if you prefer. Best used in tandem with at least one of he other anger control tools by Berg, this is an ideal introduction to game-playing or storytelling sessions, especially for younger children.
