Beekman The rationale for the Career Portfolio Activity Workbook is to provide activities for qualitative assessment and to facilitate self and career exploration in the counselling practice of career psychology professionals who follow a post-modern counselling approach and for Life Orientation teachers who are responsible for career guidance at schools or other education and training institutions. The purpose of the Career Portfolio Activity Workbook is to provide activities that will stimulate learners or clients to think about themselves and about careers and vocations in order to collect information they can use to make a career decision and to plan to reach their career goals. The Career Portfolio Activity Workbook is comprehensive and covers to process from initial exploration for career choice to the planning for a future career. After completion of all the activities, the learner or client will have a portfolio with sufficient information to use life long. The portfolio should be updated at least once a year to provide ready prepared information whenever the learner or client wants to change jobs or career. The Career Portfolio thus becomes a tool for career management. The manual is for those who want to use the Career Portfolio Activity Workbook for Grade 9 - 12 or FET learners. The purpose of the manual is to provide background information on the approach to the Career Portfolio Activity Workbook and to explain the individual aspects and components covered. The manual is written for teachers, counsellors and psychologists. The explanations are not on an advanced academic level, but rather focused on explaining the rationale behind the content and activities on a basic level. |
