In recognition of emerging demographic and clinical trends, the WAIS-IV^SA was developed to provide clients with an advanced measure of cognitive ability. The WAIS-IV^SA is a comprehensive measure of adult intelligence can be used for a variety of psychological purposes from qualification for special services to identification and treatment of psychological disability.

Assessment Scales

The WAIS-IV^SA is composed of 10 core subtests and five supplemental subtests, with the 10 core subtests comprising the Full Scale IQ. These are the four index scores, followed by the subtests:

• Verbal Comprehension Index (VCI): Similarities, Vocabulary, Information, and Comprehension
• Perceptual Reasoning Index (PRI): Block Design, Matrix Reasoning, Visual Puzzles, Picture Completion, and Figure Weights
• Working Memory Index (WMI): Digit Span, Arithmetic, and Letter-Number Sequencing

• Processing Speed Index (PSI): Symbol Search, Coding, and Cancellation

Areas of Application

WAIS-IV ^SA is used in the following areas:

• Selection processes
• Learning in higher education (e.g., identifying disabilities, concessions assessment)
• Clinical and Neuropsychological assessment
• Psycho-legal assessment (e.g., qualification for disability grants)

• Psychological research

Report Options

• Hand-Scoring: The WAIS-IV^SA can be hand-scored and information gathered about the individual can be used to compile an interpretive report.
