Jung Personality Questionnaire (JPQ)

The Jung Personality Questionnaire is based on the personality theory of Carl Gustav Jung and was constructed to serve as an aid in vocational guidance, especially at schools.

The JPQ gives a profile of a person’s personality structure within the framework of Jung’s typology. It is, however, primarily suited for vocational guidance against the background of this personality profile.

The following four personality dimensions relating to vocational success in a number of vocations can be distinguished:

• Extraversion-Introversion;

• Thought-Feeling;

• Sensation-Intuition; and

• Judgement-Perception.

Norms

The JPQ is criterion-referenced, not norm-referenced. For this reason the manual contains no norm tables. Reliability and validity data have been computed for White learners from the erstwhile provincial education departments. The test can be used with Grade 9 -12 learners, as well as at post-school level. Test takers should be fluent in English or Afrikaans.
